Mat Walkate and Alex Haynes to headline Knutsford blues show

Friday Night is no night to feel blue, unless of course you feel like enjoying the funky Friday blues at Knutsford Music Festival. This year, on Friday 10th June, Mat Walkate & Alex Haynes will be entertaining the people of Knutsford at Brook Street Chapel Hall, alongside special guests The Two Hats Blues Band and Heidi Browne.

Mat Walkate headlined a sold-out blues show at Knutsford Music Festival in 2018 and is back with duo partner Alex Haynes this year to bring even more blues excitement. It’s a collaboration that conjoins the talents of two excellent blues performers, who are drawing on the genre’s deepest origins to create fresh and current music that push British blues into a new territory.

On one hand we have Mat Walklate, an award-winning harmonica player and blues singer, and on the other we have singer and guitarist Alex Haynes; a pairing that complement each other’s techniques and individual approaches to a genre adored by many. The two combine their personalities and styles to create music that is both relevant and honest, a performance not to be missed by anyone who appreciates passionate and authentic live music.

If that isn’t enough, they will be joined by The Two Hats Blues Band: the four-piece purveyors of roots blues and ragtime jazz. Rob Young, Dan Lever, and Daniel Owens, who together make up The Two Hats Blues Band from Bolton, will appeal to fans of pre-war roots blues and anyone who’s a lover of guitar, harmony, and double bass mastery.

Following is Heidi Browne, a diverse artist whose genre ranges from rootsy-pop to jazzy-folk. Back in 2013, Heidi was selected by the BBC as one of the 25 unsigned UK acts tipped for success and was invited to attend a musician’s masterclass at Abbey Road Studios. She then went on to beat over 9,000 competitors in 2014’s Open Mic UK competition, from which she won an artist development deal. Her voice is nothing short of magical, accompanied by an assortment of rhythmic and instrumental excellence.

So, be sure to join us this June at Brook Street Chapel Hall to hear a range of incredible and authentic live music. Whether you’re a die-hard Blues fan, or simply a lover of genuine musical talent, it’s not a night you’ll want to miss.
